Back in action

Feeling a lot more energetic after a quiet night in and no booze! Strapped on Garth and headed down to the park for the hills Fartlek session. I parked outside the gate and ran down to the oval to give myself a bit more of a warm up: 1km at an easy pace. Very cold and misty but feeling OK. We headed off and Don Juan ran with me on the first section to keep me company which was very nice of him. We tackled Big Bertha and then went outside to the streets of Bondi and Bellevue hill in search on nice long hills. Running down Victoria and Berriga(sp?) was cruisy but not so much fun on the way up. I measured it as 1km and I didn't start at the bottom. At least I only had to do it once. The poor others were taken back down again as Sean didn't see me on the way up and thought something had happened to me, so he took everyone back down again in search of me. In the meantime I'm standing at the top of the hill thinking where's everyone gone? Apparently the boys were trying to tell Sean they'd passed me but he didn't hear.. next time I'll make sure I call out to Sean if I'm on the path and he is on the road or vice versa so as not to inflict additional hills on the rest of the group!

My breathing seemed OK especially after I'd warmed up on the first few hills and testing my peak flow it was fine when I first got back home but then dropped off by about 10% after about 30 mins. I'm not sure that's significant but am keeping a record for when I see the specialist next week. My chest does feel a little bit tight but I could be imagining things.

Garth tells me that we ran 11.39km in 1.18 hrs with an average pace of 6.53/km.. yes that slow.. all the hills. The good news is that we did burn up 768 cals.. Yippee!

So far this week we've covered 21.46 km so my mileage is going to be a bit low this week due to missing yesterday's run. That's Ok though as I'll ramp it up again next week and it hasn't done me any harm as my hips seem to be fine this week, the best for ages. Looking forward to the trial run of C2S on Sun with The Owl and Caro and I hope Jen will come along for a while as well.

You certainly are doing well, Lulu! Those are some hills you tackled too! But hey, don't worry about getting lost; I do it all the time & someone always finds me eventually!

Enjoy the C2S trial run & say "Hi" to the others for me.

Not sure what my Garmin will be called - will have to see it before I can decide on a name! However, feeling very excited at the prospect. I bet you're really popular, after the additional hill run the others got "looking" for you!!! Have a good weekend! Do a trial C2S run for me please!!!!
