Easter in the mountains
We were picked up by the Evil Twin Sister and her intended on Friday morning to head to their house in Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains.Friday afternoon Mr lulu and I went out to do some suitable reconnaissance for running trails that would suit me; ie not too many hills to aggravate the tempermental itb. We found a couple of possilbilities for Saturday and Sunday runs particularly some paths that run alongside the railway and so are quite flat.
Saturday morning we headed out in the very cool mountain air, long sleeves for me, and down to the railway track that ran out towards Lithgow. All went well for a couple of km before the track headed off down a steep gully. I went down some of it and then decided not to do too many hills so walked ran back up and then did a couple of laps of the part of the flat bit to make up my 30 mins before heading back to the house. Mr lulu went a lot further down the track and discovered that after that one steep hill it flattens out next to the railway for a long way. We'll know that the next time we stay at the house.
Later on Saturday we decided some bush walking was in order. We checked out a path that went down from Mount Vic to Hartley Vale. This was a great walk quite steep in the initial stages but then mostly along the valley floor on a nice dirt road to Hartley. Definitely one to consider running on when I'm a bit fitter. In total we walked about 9.4 km down to a great restaurant called Collitt's Inn. No lunch for us today though but we'll do that some other time. Instead we called the ETS Dad and he drove down and picked us up.
Saturday night turned into a late one putting the world to rights over a few bottles of wine and that and the fact that my left itb was really complaining about the bush walking made me decide to skip my Sunday run. Mr lulu went out to Victoria Falls along another road we had checked out on the Friday and reported a very pleasant run!
We came back to Sydney on Sunday afternoon, caught up with some movies and the housework.
Monday; no run today either as I still feel very sore around my left knee which is not good. Off to see Easy Tiger tomorrow to see what he can do. I'll try a short run in the morning.
Monday weigh in:
Weight lost -.3kg (total 3.3kg)
Could have been worse considering there was some easter chocolates and wine consumed this weekend. Back to the programme this week though.
Picture below shows our bush walk and the Saturday run.
