Resting and recovering
No running to report as I decided to have a good break of 3 or 4 days and let everything settle down after Sunday's incident.Monday I saw Easy Tiger who spent a delightful hour loosening up my quads. Nice big paw prints to prove it too. His diagnosis was over tight rectus femoris and lateral quads which are responsible for hip and knee flexion, which would explain the pain in the knee.
Today I had a physio appointment. He is very pleased with the progress on the original knee problem but a bit perplexed by the new one. He agrees that the left quads are tighter than the right so it could have been the cause. If they really tightened up they would have pulled the knee cap over to the right which would have caused the knee pain alright. Couldn't replicate it there of course so I can try a short gentle run on Thursday and see what happens. He is also a bit concerned about a bit of soreness in the cartilage area. That has to be kept a close eye on as that's obviously a bit more serious. I left feeling a bit flat after that. Onwards and upwards with the VMO and glute and hip strengthening and hopefully back to running by the weekend. Just might not be as long as I would like.
On the bright side I did lose half a kilo last week taking my total weight loss to nearly 4kgs.

yay - half a kg!! That's more positive news than the silly knee and it's behavioural problems.
Extra rest is frustrating but will do you no harm. You are approaching your recovery very sensibly.
Congratulations on the extra half kilo gone. I am hoping for a nice result tomorrow too!

Great news with the weightloss lulu - once you get that leg back in shape you will be a lean, mean (well maybe not mean) running machine ;-)
I think bad knees are the new black.
Good effort on the dieting. Must be those special weight-loss muffins with the negative calories.
Hey! Stop sending your unwanted kilos down here okay!
Losing weight is one of the toughest tasks for a runner, I bet!
Feel happy to have the right help close to you!!
4kg... Woo Hoo! I told you you looked leaner :-) Thats 8 tubs of marg GONE!!!
Hope that knee sorts itself out!
8 tubs of marg....that sounds so gross (re Kits comment).
Anyhow great news on the 4kg. Hopefully with a few days rest you will bounce back and this injury will be 'just one of those things' that crop up from time to time that no-one can explain and it just goes away.
well now that you have been poked and prodded I think that you will be back to business in no time. for my benefit if not your own :P hehe. rest up good!
Well done on the weight loss! It's really hard to balance enough food for running but just the right amount so that you can still lose a few extra kg's
Yay you on the weight loss! Hope your knee feels better soon xxx
